Pursuant to Article VI, Clause 2 of the Southern Constitution:

2. The people of The South shall have the power to call a referendum on any law signed by the governor during the legislative session in which it was passed by the process of petition. Petitions that collect seven or more signatures shall be considered valid. When a valid petition is presented, the appropriate election administrator shall open the voting booth on the next Friday at 12:00:00am EST and shall close said booth the following Sunday at 11:59:59pm EST. The referendum question is: “Shall [name of law, followed by text] be upheld as law?” Every citizen will be given the opportunity to vote YES to uphold and NO to repeal during this time. Abstentions will not affect the results. Any bill that fails to receive a majority approval will become null and void.

I hereby challenge and petition against the enactment of the "Respecting the Result of the Southern Flag Referendum Act," seen below:

I don't believe it is appropriate to use the Confederate battle flag as our regional flag. As a proud citizen of The South, this flag brings back a dark, racist past in our history and I think there are better options out there. Our mission should be to make this game a more welcoming Atlasia, and establishing this as our regional flag does not align with that mission.

The only justification given in the debate thread is that this was the winning option in a low-turnout, non-binding election. The sponsor argued that the flag was a clear winner of the referendum, yet it won on the final round by 1 vote. 13 votes total for it...when there are 100+ voters in the region. The cherry on top is that only THREE members of the Chamber even bother to vote to enact this. I am displeased that the Chamber of Delegates and Congressman Wulfric felt this was enough justification to pass this bill. Both parties let us down by letting this bill get this far.

Many have already expressed displeasure with the flag, including our Governor, and now is the time to put this displeasure into action. I urge my fellow Southerners to sign this petition so that we can have a flag that ALL will be proud of.

I don't believe that the flag needs to be changed.  We have other, more important issues to focus on.

Grateful this has enough signatures with bipartisan support, now lets keep the momentum going and reject this flag during the referendum next week!! The initial vote was embarrassing for the region, we now have the opportunity to redeem ourselves and reject this flag in overwhelming fashion!!
