People with the looks + reputation/social standing of Madison Cawthorn (not for no reason) think they can get away with almost anything and are much more likely to overplay their hand in their "adventures." When this kind of imprudence meets obvious political ambition and a background of having grown up in an age in which everything is being recorded/shared, it’s just not a promising combination. The fact that some stuff (and I’m not necessarily saying all of it is accurate) is already being revealed or at least brought up before he’s even made the decision to run statewide tells you a lot.

I'm skeptical of Davis' chances honestly, but he seems decent. NC Democrats should consider giving Heath Shuler a call though, he would have a very good shot at this race.

Heath Shuler is a lobbyist now.

Doesn't matter, Shuler can beat Cawthorn.

Shuler's appeal was hyperlocal--he was a well liked high school football star. It's the kind of appeal which is easily tainted if you're perceived to have 'cashed in.'

You're right-I forgot that North Carolina is liable to redistricting at any point. It's been redistricted at least three times over the past decade. But I still fear that once he gets in, he'll be difficult to get rid of.
