When I think of different U.S. states certain connotations of their citizens come into my mind. Thinking of Arizonans, however, addles my brains.
How are they perceived by other U.S. Americans? What reputation do they have?
Are they said to be sophisticated or chavvy? Are they considered upscale or proletarian? Are they rather open-minded cosmopolitans, or are they rather narrow-minded rednecks?

Pretty much cowboys and sun-burned, golf-playing olds.

What people associate with the place may not be the reality.  Arizona does have a wild west reputation.  Texas is the state most associated with cowboys, but Wyoming is probably the most cowboy state.

Also throw in Arznoa acting as the retirement destination for those west of the rockies, just like Florida to for  those to the east. its arguably why AZ is consistently moving left whereas florida is castanet: those retiring from the west are likely to be Dem favoring whereas the country to the east of the rockies leans republican, just like florida.
