Which of these three can pick up Trump voters to win the primary?

I say Pence, because of course the Veep is the most likely to be seen as carrying on the legacy of Trump.

Probably Haley. She's much more likable and charismatic than Pence and can appeal to anti-Trump suburbanites. Plus if she was able to win two elections in a conservative Southern state despite being an Indian woman, she won't have much trouble with the national base. Her biggest problem is staying relevant between now and then.

Pence, narrowly, purely based off positioning himself as the heir to Trump.

DeSantis and Haley have an equal chance.

Pence, assuming there’s roughly a 50% chance Trump wins reelection.

If Trump wins 2020: Pence

If he loses and the GOP has a shot at winning in 2024: DeSantis or Haley of the candidates mentioned.

If Trump loses and the 2024 is for the Dem incumbent what 1996 was for Clinton or 84 for Reagan: Pence, as he'd be a good Mondale or Dole sacrificial lamb.

Josh Hawley. After his National Conservatism Conference speech, I'm convinced.

Perhaps if Trump wins in 2020 and chances aren't looking good for Republicans in 2024.

Ron DeSantis won't be able to distance himself from Trump in 2024, thanks to that Florida primary ad.

I just don't see 2024 going for him (especially if he loses in 2020) when Pence (who will, in all likelihood, run), the loyal VP, is about as Trump aligned a candidate as the base could hope for in a Trump-less GOP primary.

Sort of agreed. He is exactly what I want leading the party, and he has sick creds too.

Pence. I don't think the odds are better than even, but the Vice President is more likely to be the presidential nominee than a given big-state Governor, or promising former statewide officeholder.

Yikes. He basically has the worst worldview humanly possible, and I'm fairly confident it's exactly where the GOP is headed.

His worldview is great if you ask me. And if he is where the GOP is headed then I would absolutely nut.

In terms of being able to build a base that can win the nomination, I would think Hawley has a much better chance than DeSantis

Trump's reddit/4chan/online base (an underestimated massive amount) absolutely despises Haley, and view Pence as an Evangelical, lame NeoCon (most people know by now that Christie was supposed to be the VP, but the campaign staff orchestrated a meeting with Pence, sort of by force), so I see Trump's base going to DeSantis.

I wish it were Rand Paul or John Kasich, but it'll be Mike Pence, Nikki Haley, or another Trump. At least 22 candidates will run, and I could see up to 35 if we see a return of favorite sons (Doug Ducey, Paul LePage, and Matt Bevin are potential examples). It's too early to say for sure but that's my guess.

I don't know who'll be on the top of the ticket, but I have a feeling that if Dan Bishop wins in September, he's the frontrunner for veep.
