Seeing as how no dems have jumped in yet is it likely that they think Inslee will run for a third term as governor of Washington when he drops out of the presidential race? If Inslee doesn't run who do you think will run? Also who will be the GOP candidate?

Considering his presidential run is all but him just pandering for the EPA job if a Democratic president is elected, no.

As for who runs if/when he doesn't, Bob Ferguson & Dow Constantine seem like pretty good bets. Perhaps Hilary Franz too. Maybe Dave Reichert &/or Doug Ericksen for the GOP.

Can anyone more intimately familiar with WA politics explain why Lt. Gov. Cyrus Habib is not considered a potential candidate (not mentioned in this post, nor Wikipedia's list of potential candidates)?

You don't need to be intimately familiar with WA politics to understand that if he has already declared that he's running for a 2nd term as Lt. Gov, then he's not running for Governor.

No need to be rude about it. By "more intimately familiar..." I meant more intimately familiar than myself, not you. I hadn't seen that he'd declared for reelection. But more importantly, even if I had - I'm guessing if Inslee declared he was out, that would lead the next-in-line officeholder to reconsider that decision.

Next-in-line on paper, but there are other elected officials (e.g. Ferguson & Constantine) who are currently in their 2nd or 3rd terms who've built up enough goodwill within the state party to run now.

A third term even a blue state is probably going to be a heavy lift. Inslee's wins were never really impressive, he ran way behind Clinton & Murray. May not be as smooth sailing as if it were Ferguson or Constantine.

Washington is still a pretty polarizing state so Republicans tend to have as high floor and low ceiling in statewide races. I wouldn’t say 55% was that bad for Inslee and he’ll probably win again if he ran.

I thought Washington limited its Governors to two (2) terms.

No, there's no limit to the number of terms that a Governor of Washington may serve.

Constantine and Ferguson are all but running.
I would love for Cyrus Habib to jump in. He'd be my number one candidate.

I'd be surprised if no one announces before Labor Day.
