Interestingly, I have never voted in a presidential primary or general election where my candidate lost my county or state.

I guess that's almost true of me (Sanders won my county, but narrowly lost the state) but I've only ever voted in one presidential cycle.

Of course.  I live in a precinct where Cruz beat Trump in the GOP Primary (but it was a Rubio precinct, with Trump coming in third).

Rubio: 36%
Cruz: 25%
Trump: 23%
Kasich: 8%
Carson: 6%

If I lived in Texas, I would likely pick a Cruz County (probably Collin or Denton).

No, but I wouldn't be willing to live in a county that voted for Beto either. Texas is a truly deplorable place.

True but I consider the Dallas suburbs one of the best places in the nation and from an unbiased view probably the best or maybe 2nd best(Denver Suburbs is the other) . From an biased view it would be the third best(After Portland and Seattle Suburbs)

From an unbiased view I dont know how that is wrong, as you can get a lot more career opportunities in Dallas than you can anywhere in MN , its a relatively cheap place to live , is much better in terms of entertainment.

Lol what? Minnesota is ranked #2 in quality of life and #3 in opportunity according to U.S. News. https://www.usnews.com/news/best-states/minnesota

Nothing seems particularly bad about Ft. Wayne or Grand Rapids.

I wouldn't want to live in Texas for a multitude of reasons (weather, politics, culture) but if I did, then yes, it would almost certainly be in a Beto county.

As for TX-SEN 2018 specifically, I'd probably prefer a Beto county but would prefer, for example, Lubbock over Jim Hogg.

Of course. Wether a county voted blue or red in X or Y election isn't really a concern to me (because I'm not a hack). For example, I'd rather live in Chittenden County, VT than Mobile County, AL.

Same, except I'd rather live in Mobile County, AL than Chittenden County, VT Tongue

For Texas, probably I'd pick either San Patricio County or Collin County.

I would probably be able to get over it since that county will have already most likely been Republican friendly, and I would probably be used to it.

Sure, it would just depend on ... well, a ton of non-related factors, haha.

Cruz primary/Trump general counties are pretty great.   Especially the Dutch heavy spots like Northwest Iowa and Western Michigan, as well as much of Texas.
