On Wednesday, March 6th, the Financial Services Committee marked up its views and estimates for the 2020 Federal Budget. Mr. Duffy offered the following amendment to add the Green New Deal to the Views and Estimates:
Page 2, line 13 strike “to ensure that every family has access to safe, decent, and affordable
housing.” and insert:
“to provide all people with affordable, safe, and adequate housing that has been newly built or
retroactively upgraded to achieve maximum energy efficiency, water efficiency, safety,
affordability, comfort, and durability, using only clean, renewable, and zero-emission energy
sources.”
Mr. Duffy forced a recorded vote in hopes of dividing Democrats. It did not work, all 55 members present voted No.
