https://www.cnn.com/2019/02/26/politics/republicans-climate-change-house-hearing-adjourn-10-minutes-2-democrats/index.html

Only 2 Democrats were present 10 minutes in with 4 Republicans so a motion to adjourn was carried, cutting short the hearing titled:  The Denial Playbook: How Industries Manipulate Science and Policy from Climate Change to Public Health

I think the line goes “Decisions are made by those who show up”

Why didn't the Democrats show-up to the meeting?
They allowed the GOP to have more of their members at the hearing.

This is little sh**t the minority does to punish the majority for not always being all the ball. Really stupid to read more into it than that.

These are elected legislators (i.e. people who work for you) who didn't show up on time to their own hearing. It's not unforgivable, and there may have been mitigating factors, but it was a mistake and it is far from unreasonable to expect people to show up less than 10 minutes late for their own meetings.

Members are part of so many subcommittees and committees that it would be physically impossible sometimes for them to make it to all the hearings. Representatives have a lot of pulls on their time between hearings, caucus meetings, floor debate/votes, meeting with constituents, meeting with lobbyists/interest groups, etc. Stuff like this is mildly embarrassing but to be expected, and both sides do it to each other when they are in the minority. Like most of this stuff, it ultimately doesn't really matter.

Not only that, but this particular subcommittee, thanks to having a vacancy, is currently equally divided between Ds and R's, so it's very fertile ground for procedural crap.

It wasn't even about the climate, it was a hack hearing about demonizing people who disagree with them on the climate.  Perfectly justifiable for the Republicans to do this.

Yes, demonizing the 0.1% of hacks in the so-called scientific community who try to claim simply 2 plus 2 equals five.

Don't make excuses for the Democrats that missed this hearing and allowed it to be adjourned prematurely.

If they can't be bothered to show up to the hearing, then it shows how much they cared about it in the first place.

I expect elected Democratic house members to care about climate chage at least as much as I do.  I mean, come on.
