Very sad debate - it just reveals that no one understands how society works, what is the real nature of crime, etc.

I thought John Lott had been exposed as a dishonest hack years ago. It's a shame that he continues to have any influence over the gun control debate.

Beet,

You've got it totally wrong!

The liar was one Michael Ballesiles.

I am not sure you know who John Lott is. Research Economist, University of Maryland. Please note his research not his actions to gain publicity for his book. I only care about a statistical analysis of the gun rights debate.

Enlighten us. How does society work? What is the read nature of crime? Understanding does not come from  suppositions, but rather statistical inferences.

Well, if you believe that last statement, there's little point in my trying to communicate with you.  But here goes - the important fact that gun nuts forget is that while in theory it is just possible (though unlikely), that the odd non-white marauder will enter their home and in various frightful ways even the score a bit, the real threat is not just a chance possibility, but an endemic, ongoing, and pervasively implemented 'crime' which is in fact so complete a violence that not only is said gun-nut a slave, he is unable to even understand that he is a slave - not just a slave, but unmanned, dehumanized, and subjugated to his very core and identity.
