Excellent news! There needs to be grave reforms done to make our health care system efficient and beneficial for the people. Glad to see voters being rewarded for their smart choices. Now, don’t you feel silly Hofoid for your talk of the “neoliberal” Democratic Party?

I think extending healthcare to the undocumented is a bit extreme, but otherwise, looks like they're delivering on their promises.

The state taxes paid by these folks warrants enjoying the fruit of their labor. I’m leaving it at that.

It is being extended to undocumented immigrants under age 26.  There is a high chance they were brought as children or entered the U.S. as children.  Normally they would be eligible to remain on their parents' insurance or for Medicaid.  Because their parents are not here or they are not eligible for insurance, these young adults are at a big disadvantage.

Hospitals are required by law to treat a patient that presents to the emergency room.  It is cheaper, however, to pay for preventative and routine checkups and prescriptions to prevent bigger medical issues.  And keep in mind under 26ers are the cheapest to insure.

If we don't give them Medicaid, they will still go to the emergency room if something happens.  And the hospital will simply write off the cost and pass it on in the form of higher prices charged to individuals and insurance companies.  Either way, you pay.

If you want to start denying emergency care to people without insurance, then by all means... argue that.  But don't shoot yourself in the foot to spite the immigrant kids.

Reminds me of this time last year when we were all assured by a contingent of posters on this site that neoliberal king shill Ralph Northam was going to refuse a Medicaid expansion in this state, only to have him shepherd expansion through two houses of the state legislature which his party didn't even control. Did anybody here ever eat the crow they deserved for getting that one wrong?

Reminder: illegal immigrants pay sales tax and other types of taxes.

They often pay state income taxes too, using someone else's name/SSN.

Many even pay income and payroll taxes when they work under an assumed name and their deducted directly from their paychecks. Plus, and just about every state sales taxes AR not only the vast bulk of how the state funds its revenues along with incidental fees that illegal immigrants pay for just like everyone else, but it's what working class and poor voters contribute almost entirely to state coffers. Iirc, Studies have shown that undocumented immigrants pay as much or even slightly more in taxes compared to benefits received then native residence. Consider for example that they can't collect from Social Security taxes they pay.

It's a common behavior for liberals to deliver on promises.

In a moral society, health care is a utility, not a product.

True, too bad electing even those is rather difficult, let alone progressives. We're stuck with centrists who definitely don't even do that.

Also, if conservatives/Republicans don't keep their promises, which is what is being implied when you single out liberals for keeping promises, (perhaps fair in this case, since they did not repeal Obamacare) then what is so scary about their promises?
