This should be interesting: Which 2020 outcome would you prefer here? I'd take the second option very easily.

Result 1

Presidential election

✓ Senator Bernard Sanders (D-VT)/Senator Cory Booker (D-NJ): 304 EV. (50.96%)
President Donald J. Trump (R-NY)/Vice President Michael R. Pence (R-IN): 234 EV. (45.74%)

Senate
51 R, 49 D
Democratic gains: AZ-special, CO, ME
Republican gains: AL

House
230 D, 205 R

Result 2

Presidential election

✓ Governor Andrew Cuomo (D-NY)/Senator Catherine Cortez-Masto (D-NV): 349 EV. (52.33%)
President Donald J. Trump (R-NY)/Vice President Michael R. Pence (R-IN): 189 EV. (45.06%)

Senate
52 D, 49 R
Democratic gains: AZ-special, CO, NC, ME, MT, GA
Republican gains: AL

House
239 D, 196 R

I'm actually undecided.

What speaks for 1:
- Sanders is more in line with my own political views, and he'd certainly try to shake things up significantly. Cuomo perhaps wouldn't change much about America's overall malaise which led to Trump's election in the first place.

What speaks for 2:
- Cuomo has a lot of executive experience, probably making him the most qualified president (at the time of his oath of office) since George H.W. Bush. I'm not sure whether Sanders would actually be that effective at governing, since he often strikes me as the kind of guy who was born to be a firebrand opposition politician and a thorn in the side of the powers that be.
- There's a Democratic majority in the Senate. (Then again, you'd need 60 seats to effectively get sh**t done.)

Ultimately, I'd be happy about either result.

#1.  No chance of Dems raising taxes via reconciliation in the 2021-2022 period and the GOP most likely will re-take the Senate in 2022.  If Trump is going to be defeated in 2020 then #1 is pretty much the best I can hope for.

Much as I like Sanders, Option 2.

McConnell is a greater adversary than Trump.

That said, I'd rather have someone else other than these two.

2. I've actually been impressed by what Cuomo has done since his reelection. Plus Bernie with a GOP senate wouldn't be able to get anything done. Easy choice.

Result 2. Cory Booker is a repulsive and evil person who should be on trial like all the other pharma enablers, not one step away from the white house.

Result 2 likely delivers a Democratic trifecta. Result 1 does not. Therefore, Result 2.

Result 1 a million times over. Not only do the GOP hold the Senate, thus dulling Sander’s more radical edges, but we also have a decent human being who is pro-pot, not rabidly anti-gun, non-interventionist, and incorruptible as POTUS where as in scenario 2 we get the worst of the Democratic Party having unlimited power.

My hesitation to pick 2 is just due to Cuomo's potential lack of re-electibility, plus that Senate majority would probably last only two years. But that's enough time to get RBG and Breyer's replacements on the court. Let's do it.
