Many Democrats retired in 1994 and the GOP won all the open races. What if the Dems didn't retire?

Didn't they all pretty much retire facing certain defeat?

What about Lloyd Bentsen? What if he had not become Clinton's Treasury Secretary and stayed in the Senate? Would he have won reelection.

I think George Mitchell would have been reelected; the three other Democrats didn't stand a chance on the other hand, if they didn't retire they would have lost to their GOP challenger.

I think Mitchell and Metzenbaum would have won, while Riegle and DeConcini would have lost.
