While Romney had a clear platform and stuck well to it, appealing to moderates dissappointed with Obama's first term while keeping the rest of his party in check, Kanye's platform would've been vaguely Christian Democratic with some outlandish, MTG/Jones-level conspiracy theories sprinkled in, in which most people wouldn't take him seriously. He probably would've done better in 2016, but America was not ready for an outsider, populist campaign at that time and were more than happy at the job that Obama was doing.
