Belle Meade, TN is for sure the answer for me. I spent much of my formative years there, it's where I attended high school at, as well as lived in for a while while I was in my mid teen years, the main company I work for today even is based in the vicinity of Belle Meade, which is why I have to work at home and make frequent treks to the Nashville area for work stuff.

A lot of my views in life, what I value, my personal beliefs and my politics, it was influenced heavily by my experiences in Belle Meade as a teenager.

What about you guys?

Dallas, I have lived in the city proper for most of my life, and I have lived within the DFW area for my entire life.

While California as a state is the obvious answer here, there're too many towns that have played some kind of role.

So, non home-state answer: Provo, Utah

Salt Lake City may be The Vatican/Mecca, but it is Provo that has become The Cultural Face.

Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Not in the sense that it made me more conservative, but because it gave me a glimpse into what it's like to live a more minimalist life and helped me develop an appreciation for the smaller things. Lancaster is a great city; it's not too big to get lost, but it's so broad and has a great culture. I love it to death.

Agreed. If I had to stay in the area after college, wouldn't be too upset.

Baltimore for me, though. Brilliant city, and it's home. Baltimore is where I've spent most of my time since I was a kid, and I've lived there on-and-off since then. I don't have a legal address in the city proper right now, but Baltimore is the center of my lived universe.

I'm at Elizabethtown, graduating this semester. Close enough to Lancaster that I spend significant time there.

Oh that's nice, congrats man! I applied for a few jobs at E-Town but no dice haha

Either Bordentown, NJ, where I spent my teens and developed a lot of the basic interests and beliefs that I still hold today, or Amherst, MA, where I went to college and which is still (along with nearby Northampton, MA and somewhat further-afield Albany, NY) one of the centers of my cultural and social universe.

New York City. Lived there from 2017 until the end of last year. It was the city where I first lived away from home, and had to keep up a few jobs while attending university, but for better or for worse it taught me independence and gave me some of the most memorable experiences of young adulthood
