I decided it'd be interesting to compile a list of the last year each state had either two Democratic or two Republican Senators at the same time.  Some of the findings were very interesting.  Here is the list:

Interesting Things That Stood Out
- Vermont in general ... we all know that Sanders (I) is the reason, but it's kind of crazy that they have both NEVER had two Democratic Senators but also not had two GOP Senators for over 40 years.
- Arizona's streak (which might well be broken in 2019) ... for a state that broke for Clinton once and has elected some Democratic governors, they have the fifth longest streak of not having two Democrats as Senators.
- Montana's streak ... I know it's not as Republican of a state as often assumed, but no GOP duo since 1911?!  That's kind of crazy.
- Florida's streak ... the fact that Florida hasn't had two GOP Senators since Reconstruction honestly shocked me.

Wow, great collection! VT, to be honest, didn't shock me since I knew it was a moderate GOP state for most of the time before the 1990s. Patrick Leahy is even the only Dem senator the state ever elected. FL in fact did shock me, that there weren't two GOPers since 1879. MT is also interesting with over 100 years. Both could be broken next year, even though I don't think it will actually happen.

NH's Republican streak broke in 2009, not 2011, when Shaheen (D) was elected.

It will never not be funny that Alabama has a Democratic senator right now.

Yep, looked at the wrong side of that big, annoying Wikipedia chart, LOL.  Thanks for the catch.  The women got angrier a full two years before experts had previously thought.

Florida loses its streak as the longest without two GOP Senators, leaving Montana in first place.  Arizona leaves the GOP Hack Club and welcomes in Florida, Indiana, Missouri and North Dakota.  Nevada joins the Dem Hack Club.  With its glorious election of Mitt, Utah remains the longest streak of not having two Democratic Senators, save for the GOP's ancient True Loves Purple heart of Kansas and Vermont, who have never sent two Democrats to D.C.

While we're talking about these sort of streaks, I believe Alaska has the longest streak of not having an open Senate election. They haven't had one in the 60 years since their original election in 1958.
