Elections are becoming even more polarized politically.

The only states where Governor and Senate elected different parties are: AZ, OH, MD, MA, VT, all of which elected a Dem Senator and a GOP Governor.

The following had the same county maps for Gov. and Sen.: FL, HI NE, NV, TN, WY. All except FL and WY had that map for presidential.

MA and VT each only had one county vote the same for Gov. and Sen.

Gov. voting the opposite party as Pres. were: KS, WI, MI, PA, MD, MA, VT, NH
the only non-incumbents were: KS, WI, MI

Sen. voting the opposite party as Pres. were: AZ, MT, WI, MI, OH, PA, WV
the only non-incumbent was: AZ

Fixed.

Anyhow, any likelihood for this phenomenon? (other than perhaps incumbency and the solidly Dem on a federal level MD, MA, VT)

Dems flipped mostly in swing states, but had a few big pickups in Red states with Kelly and Sinema. They also flipped a blue governor’s mansion in Illinois.

GOP conversely took out three red state Dems in the senate. In swing states they only had one flip and that was Rick Scott. In blue states they only won the three northeastern moderate governors.
