Well he would be taking the wind out of Hogan/Kasich/Romney/whoever else's sails then. All of them need to get together and see who would do the best against Trump. Someone has to challenge him from within the party, for the sake of the country, but they also can't split what little opposition vote that there would be against him.

Do you guys think that Trump is going to mention Weld's possible alcohol problem in the debates/his tweets?

Trump is very unlikely to agree to any debates with Weld or any other conceivable primary challenger.

Am I the only one that thinks that primary challenge could actually help Trump, rallying his base much earlier?

Given the Trump family's history with alcoholism, I actually doubt it. Personal sobriety and a human understanding of the consequences of alcohol addiction are probably Trumps sole redeeming qualities.

If it's Bill Weld, no. 99% of Trump's base has probably never heard of him. If it's someone like Kasich or Sasse, probably. If there are actual primaries to be voted in, Trump's base will show up in huge numbers to squash that.

Any primary challenger to Trump who is remotely serious is going to have big media coverage.

Maybe for a little while by virtue of being the primary challenger, but Bill Weld is about as energizing as a soggy slice of white bread.

Wrong party. This guy basically endorsed Clinton in 2016, I’d love to see him run as a Republican and get destroyed.

By running against both her and Trump...?  Bill Weld is getting literally nowhere in either primary season, so it's kind of ridiculous to call his former party the "wrong one" to run in, even if neither one is the "right one" to run in.

There are potential POTUS matchups where Bill Weld would get my vote. Probably my second favorite republican after Brian Sandoval.

I wonder if Baker would endorse him.

Can't understand why he's not running in the LP though. He's probably not well regarded enough in the party to lose in the GOP then switch back to them and run for their nomination.

Hogan, Weld and Kasich need to meet and decide which one will take the plunge. Hogan would likely be the best option, followed by Kasich and then Weld.
