Obviously this would have been competitive in a Cliiiiintttoonnnnn miiiiiiddddttteeeeeerrrrmmm, though. /s
If Konfederate KKKorey wasn't on the ballot?  It would be in such circumstances.

And VA is still a competitive state because...? Bush won it in 2004?

Trump's Presidency and the implosion of the VAGOP have both ensured that statewide races won't be competitive for at least a generation.

Yeah, as we all know, the VAGOP was such a dominating force before Trump won the presidency. /s I’m not saying that Trump didn’t hurt them, but this state was always going to go the way of Maryland no matter what.

^An Ed Gillepsie (2014) type candidate would be competitive in a Clinton midterm.

Kaine would not have been a candidate.

I think the race would have ended up being David Scott vs Barbara Comstock.

I think Terry McAuliffe would have run since he needs a new job after appointing a placeholder (similar to Joe Manchin in 2010).

I know. And you mean Bobby Scott, right? I’m not sure he would have been the nominee, but even so, there is no reason to believe he would have lost such a race, especially to the hilariously overrated Barbara Comstock. VA is one of the states where Clinton likely would have remained relatively popular, particularly in NOVA.

No.
