well, color me confused.

If it's a "bit", it's not funny.  If you're serious...well, I don't know....but it's weird.  You should probably just drop out of paying attention to politics alltogether....you're doing it wrong.

This wasn't funny the first time you did this.  Why would it be funny now?

This is the way politics is in most countries, and the way it should be. Your goal should be to be on the winning side as much as possible.

Why are you on the losing side though? Tired of GOP winning? The ultimate tribute of loyalty and self-sacrifice to Trump would be to change your avatar Smiley.

We all know Trump is a Democrat. Look at what he's doing to the Republican Party.

Being a "loyal friend of the government" seems to be almost un-American to me. Beet I shall pray for you. And this incident is yet another piece of evidence that Texas should be avoided at all costs.

Hey now! I turned out alright.

Becoming a "loyal friend of the government" is a wise decision, as long as you make a profit. Otherwise, who cares. There's not even a poll to measure the efefct in public opinion Wink

*bump*

Americans politics has become so tribalistic, that there's no real point in being in the opposition 'party.' All you do is put a big mark on your back that says enemy of the state. Well, I am a loyal friend of the government, so long as it lets me be.

OK, so you support whichever party is in power most of the time, but what about at election time?  You're automatically going to support Trump's reelection in 2020 because he's the incumbent?  And then, if he loses, you'll support President Kamala Harris, and also support her reelection in 2024?

Syrian politics has become so tribalistic, that there's no real point in being in Al Nusra. All you do is put a big mark on your back that says enemy of the state. Well, I am a loyal friend of the government, so long as it lets me be.

Unlike my last 'switch', after the collapse of isil, I am now switching all of my political positions as well. I am now a Ba'athist on all issues.

I would consider myself an Assad loyalist in the vein of Dawoud Rajiha.

Yes and yes, as long as politics remains as tribalistic as it is now. If it goes back to what it was prior to 2008 then not necessarily. But if history has taught us anything, it's that the past isn't coming back.

OK, I'll play along: Even if you're really afraid about being marked "enemy of the state", why not just pretend to be pro-Trump when you're in some kind of public forum, where people can identify you?  Atlas forum is anonymous, so who cares if you're accused of being anti-government here?  You can reserve your pro-Trump talking points for public street corners, while offering your true opinions here, since we don't know your real identity here.

Or, failing that, maybe you'll just retain your own private beliefs in your head, but not speak them?  Or do you really view this pro-Trump turn as involving you training your brain to now believe political opinions that you didn't previously held, as opposed to mouthing political opinions you don't really buy, and keeping your true opinions private?

OK. Here's what I should have said originally. "I'm switching to the GOP. There are a lot of reasons for this, and it's too much to go into. It would be a short book in length, come off as gaudy and attention seeking, and probably be terrible anyway. The world has changed a lot in the last 15 or 20 years, and continues to change. Other than that, I'll have to let my posts speak for themselves."

German politics has become so tribalistic, that there's no real point in being in the KPD. All you do is put a big mark on your back that says enemy of the state. Well, I am a loyal friend of the Reich, so long as it lets me be.

Unlike my last 'switch', after the Night of the Long Knives, I am now switching all of my political positions as well. I am now a nazi on all issues.

I would consider myself a Hitler loyalist in the vein of Alfred Hugenberg.

Labour politics has become so tribalistic, that there's no real point in being in the opposition. All you do is put a big mark on your back that says enemy of the leadership. Well, I am a loyal friend of the NEC, so long as it lets me be.

Unlike my last 'switch', after the leadership challenge, I am now switching all of my political positions as well. I am now a Corbynite on all issues.

I would consider myself a Corbynite-Bennite-Trot infiltrator in the vein of Tom Watson.
