Getting the police called on you is just something that happens from time to time when you're canvassing, but there is a clear pattern regarding who gets the police called on them more often.

From the experience of people I've worked with, it happens, but not nearly as often.

It's sad that I agree with this.

US political standards are in open decay if all of us agree that a black canvasser knocking on doors in the South still faces a very real risk of (mortal) retaliation from the police, just like the 1960s. Knocking on doors shouldn't be a profile in courage.

If he's canvassing for Democrats in Snellville, he's likely to be be in pretty heavily minority-dominated neighborhoods anyway.  Also, Georgia has a state law against door-to-door solicitation (and while political campaigns and religious campaigns are exempted), political canvassers often get harassed due to the law.

Many people know that door-to-door solicitations for the sale of commercial products and services are tightly controlled. What isn't so well known is that political canvassing and religious proselytizing are not illegal and have protection under the First Amendment.

Police departments keep records, so I don't know what this "we'll never know" BS is about. I'm sure the right wing sites have been looking into it just in case.
