Unemployment Rate returning to pre-recession levels in the EU

Interesting to see that the biggest winners were scattered across in terms of rates across the poll. Portugal seems to have left the PIGS while Finland gained( albeit insignificant statistically) in unemployment. Very interesting to see what happens in the coming time.

Not here in Austria yet.

Between 2006-08 (pre-recession), the rate was between 3.5-3.8% here.

In May it was down to 4.6% (-1% compared with a year ago), but still not back to pre-recession levels.

Most of the 150.000 asylum seekers that came after 2014-15 are unable to be integrated into the labour market and spend months and years either in training courses or in the unemployment or welfare systems. Only some 10% of them have been hired.

But there was also huge demand of new workers in general with many women + EU foreigners streaming onto the labour market. So, while job growth averaged 2% each year or +70.000 jobs created annually, unemployment also rose (and is now dropping slightly).
