Jefferson. The federalists should never have been.

Speak for yourself, MODERATOR. That is an enormous historical misconception.

Today's public would probably view them both as equally insane, but Jefferson was a better leader.

What did Jefferson do that was as bad as the Alien and Sedition Acts?

The Embargo Act. Three words that nearly caused New England's secession and nearly tanked the economy into a depression.

^^^^

But nowhere did I say that Jefferson did worse, only that Adams was not quite a tyrant.

In 1800, definately Jefferson.

In 1796, undecided.

What were the issues of the time and thier positions?  I like Thomas Jefferson, but he did keep slaves....but so did everyone else so I have a real hard time liking any of the Founding Father besides Washington

that is true, but he did dislike slavery and wanted to include a passage against it in the Declaration of Independence, that was thwarted.

Also one Founding Father who did not have slaves and staunchly opposed slavery and was by far my favorite of them: THOMAS PAINE.

And I vote Jefferson.

From Thetford orginally. Nice place, if somewhat surreal.
