It's entirely possible that a woman miscarried in a detention center. I doubt mistreatment by DHS officials was the cause, as opposed to simply the stress of needlessly undertaking a dangerous journey while having a delicate medical condition.

That immigration lawyers (actually pro-immigration activists) exaggerate and outright lie to make their clients seem sympathetic is well known and has been acknowledged in mainstream news sources.

It's unfortunate that such lying is just SOP for immigration advocates. Makes it very hard to know for sure what abuses are real and what abuses are made up. This is probably made up though.
