Yes, absolutely.
Can't help but wonder why it was erected in the first place.

It wasn't erected in Seattle. It was in the Soviet Union and moved there after it fell by some guy who bought it because he thought it was a piece of history worth preserving, aka same argument for keeping Confederate leaders statues.

Weird question, but would you happen to know if the statue lacks a finger?

The statue was actually created as a subtle critique of Lenin and communist tyranny in general. The man who was commissioned to make it by the Communist Party of Bulgaria designed it to potray Lenin as a violent revolutionary as opposed to as a philosopher, as he was typically potrayed in communist art. Considering its historic, artistic, and cultural significance, I think it would be a mistake to tear it down. There should probably be a plaque or something next to it explaining the history of the statue and how it got there, along with the atrocities committed by Lenin as to give historical context, assuming there isn't already.

so it's on private property?  If it is, then nothing should be done about it as we live in a free country.  If it's on city/county/state/fed property then it's a problem.

Of course not. It's not much of a tribute to the man himself so much as a cultural landmark – it's an integral part of the Fremont neighborhood. SWE's comment is also very much true.

I'm not one for tearing down statues, this included. Must add on it's not owned by the city or anything, some guy decided to put it up.

On the one hand, we have the mistakes and crimes of genocide, democratic centralism, vanguardism, atheism, and subversiveness. On the other hand, Communist propaganda is cool. So, yeah, let's keep it.

I can assure you it definitely wasn't as a tribute to communism.

Oh, if it's on private property it should be the owner's choice whether it is taken down.

The point of the statue is for it to be a "victory trophy" of the Cold War by turning Lenin into a commercial object. Don't they do silly things like put him in women's clothes sometimes? The point is to make fun of him. I love mocking soviet kitsch.

Yep. It's also fairly common practice to paint the statue's hands red, to indicate the bloodon his hands.
