The Confederate Flag should be raised next to the United States flag all across the South, and in DC as well. Primarily to irritate people, I admit.

The Confederate flag should be burned everywhere to remind people what happens to people who betray this country.

Apparently Northerners aren't getting the message, since they are flying it proudly.

Burn it there too.  Obviously John Kerry and Cindy Sheehan haven't yet learned the lesson of what happens to traitors.  The United States of America will always prevail over despots and traitors.

Well, maybe they did learn their lesson.  Kerry lost, and Sheehan was arrested Smiley

The United States were founded on treason against England.

That's why I am in strong favor of school uniforming. Thankfully our school district already does so.

If nature had intended uniforms to be worn in school, then nature would have made everyone look alike.

School uniforms are contrary to the laws of nature, and contrary to the Constitution, which nature gave to us.

Laws of nature? WTF this is America (not New America) not some african jungle mud hut.

Indeed, that's the worst argument against school uniforms I've ever heard. Easy extension of that logic:

"If nature had intended us to where clothes, we would have been born with them!" 0_o

I say yes if the school wants to. So all schools ouside the south would probably be yes and all the schools in the south would be no. Smiley

Because in my opinion it is bad for society. It has minimal to no effect on me personally, especially since I am unlikely to inhabit a state that would vote for gay marriage anyway.

Your question, though, is totally off topic and thus not a legitimate issue in this thread, as I pointed out. Your effort at connecting the flag issue to marriage was quite poor.

I personally can'tr stand people who wear any flag on their clotes, unless they are representing that nation. It disgusts me that the US flag has become a fashion symbol; the disrespect people show to it and to all the other flags that get made into boxer shorts, or undies, or t-shirts really pisses me off.

That said, it shouldn't be banned. Either ban none or ban them all.

Tommy Hilfiger boxers don't really give me a raging hard-on either.

Yes, of course.  Though the American flag is just as bad.

If we are to ban the Confederate Flag from schools, then why not flags of nations such as China, where human rights abuses far exceed those that happened in the Confederacy.

While I was writing this post, I remembered that circa 2000-01 I was actually in favor of schools banning the Confederate flag. Now I fly a miniature Confederate Flag in my room.  I guess I've come a long way Smiley

It struck me as odd too.  we were driving to New York over the summer and in Maryland, which is that state south of mason and dixon's line, I never saw a single one.  Cross over mason and dixon's line into pennsylvania, and you can't swing a dead cat without hitting a confederate battle flag.  they're everywhere.  mullets, pickup trucks, and gunracks you expect.  after all, it's pennsylvania.  but confederate battle flags?  odd, isn't it?

Students shouldn't have the same "rights" as adults.  Public education is a priveledge and students should be required to act and dress in a respectable, mainstream, non-disruptive manner.

As libertarian as I am, I somewhat agree with this.  Students should be allowed to express themselves but only if they don't draw too much attention or disrupt class.

I don't belive the Confedrate flag is a symbol of racism but a symbol of rebillion. If you read some accounts of the American War Of Independence you will read about the Confedrate flag being flowin in the south during that period.
