They should do a train tour from Minnesota-Iowa-Missouri-Arkansas-Louisiana-to Texas if they want to have a good map in America's Heartland (Middle America).

Yes, AR, MO, LA and even IA may not be in play for Democrats in 2020, they should appeal to voters in the Midwest before doing a Sunbelt Strategy of the future.

Democrats need to win the rust belt back first, the sun-belt can wait.

Northern Missouri and northwestern Texas are Midwestern.

Missouri is, geographically and politically:

1. the rural areas of Missouri north of about US 50 (north of the Ozarks), which is much like rural Iowa or Illinois

2. the large urban areas of Kansas City and St. Louis to the extent that those do not overflow into Kansas and Illinois, respectively

3. the Ozarks, similar in topography, ideology, economics, demographics, and political history to West Virginia. It's hard to distinguish the Ozarks from Appalachia.

4. the southeastern part of Missouri, plains south of about Polar Bluff and Cape Girardeau but east of US 67, which have much in common with the Deep South. This area is the northernmost part of the Mississippi Delta, and it has more in common with Mississippi, northern Louisiana, western Tennessee, or eastern Arkansas than with any other part of Missouri.

Missouri was  Electoral Votes numbers 366 through 376 for Obama in 2008. I see Texas as an easier pickup for practically any Democratic nominee for President in 2020, so Missouri for the Democrat indicates a Democratic landslide for the Presidency.

I was thinking something like this too, either it be a train or bus tour.

I don't think Dems can win MO, but I disagree with your assessment because MO whites are much more elastic than those in TX. Kander almost won despite Hillary losing by 18%, TX does no such ticket splitting. I suppose you choose TX because of minority turnout, but I just don't think that it's at the level in TX where the Dem can flip it.

This reminds me of the story that Joe Biden wanted a pamphlet to be sent to every house in America in 2012 about the economic stimulus.

The idea behind a train tour isn't bad; it shows you're making an effort, reaching out etc etc.

However it's irrelevant when Trump comes out with his regular verbal diarrhea . Clinton did a bus tour with Kaine in 2016, and no-one cared.

Clinton did a bus tour across Pennsylvania and Ohio early in the campaign. It didn't seem to do much good. That's not to say that the Midwest isn't crucial, but something like this needs to be properly timed.

The bus tour might have had a more positive impact if her message to those voters wasn't "roll over and die already".

Clinton did a whistle-stop train tour that began in Huntington, WV and ended at the DNC in Chicago in 1996. My parents took me downtown to see his speech, but the train was so late that Clinton skipped his speech and waved to the crowd instead as the train went by.

A train tour? That seems mostly to be Mr. Harrison's strength, though I do expect Mr. Cleveland and Mr. Weaver make a push for those states.
Seriously though, I don't think it'd do much good. There are other, more efficient methods in my opinion.

Something can be both the past and the future. See Pneumatic tubes, a crazy futuristic method of transportation that was first demonstrated in the mid 1800s.

Let me guess, Republicans will come out with “train derailment” and “Trump Train” memes.

Could you guys imagine the concern trolling LimoLib and Hofoid would be doing every day? They may as well get a press pass on the train at that point. ”This train only went through MO-2 twice, Dems are toast in that district”, “Does the train tour alienate bus riders?”, etc.

Let me guess, Republicans will come out with “trail derailment” and “Drumpf Train” memes.

You have now convinced me against this idea (not that I was particularly fond of it to begin with).
