Upon arrival in Miami, the Speaker was rushed into the motorcade and dropped off at the hotel. I have come before you tonight for the purpose of talking about a very important subject. The Vice Presidency, a role that has become essential to the function and productivity of Congress. When searching for a Vice President I started first with people who were active and successful in positions that required administration of a legislative chamber, since that is the primary task that will be handled on a daily basis if this ticket is elected. Second, I wanted someone who understands the importance of this roll and the person I have selected has seen first hand the transformation that the Vice Presidency has undergone in the past year.
Needless to say some will not be fond of my pick for Vice President. Therefore I will state here at the beginning so that nobody is under any illusions, if the Vice President is not on a leave of absence, I will apply a more strict standard than Congress is under. If the Vice President is inactive for a period of five days without posting a leave of absence, I will ask for their resignation. Furthermore when it comes to the cabinet, I will also require constant engagement, participation and discussion and any failure to do so from either the Internal Affairs or State department, will likewise be met with a similar request for a resignation.
If elected, this administration will not tolerate inactivity, incompetence, corruption, criminal activity or actions that undermine our values or the desired goal of A More Welcoming and Engaged Atlasia
TM, and anyone who engages in said behavior will be fired and subject to prosecution if the Attorney General deems such to be dictated by the law.
Now with that out of the way, I want to also state that I still support the idea of a separately elected Vice President/President of Congress and there are proposals in congress that could lead to that result. Therefore this very well could be the last such time that we have Vice Presidents selected in this manner. While I am pleased with the changes that have occurred in the standards for selecting Vice Presidents, I think we need to move towards independent election for the sake of ensuring that VPs will run on and be held accountable directly for their competence, activity and integrity, which is not the case presently with the ticket system.
It matters, it matters because the Vice President is the gate keeper not only of bills to the Presidents and resolutions to the regions to be ratified as amendments, but also the one who through doing his job preserves congressional transparency and the ability of the people to follow and track what has passed. This stems from the adequate management of the noticeboard, to the formatting of bills, to the posting of threads on the AFE board when necessary to keep the people informed and engaged. I will also be looking at more ways to better engage people in the legislative process and bring the actions that occur there directly into view of the people.
Thus without further delay, I am announcing what some people already know and many do not and that is I am selecting Former President and Senate PPT, Dfwlibertylover to be my Vice Presidential candidate. In this ticket I find we bring everyone together, from those who like and respect DFW they have him as the selection and for those who are not fond of the choice, they can take sweet pleasure in knowing that for at least four months, he will be the recipient of endless torture and torment at my hands.
And if you doubt that, just ask any house member over the past year, as the font has become 10pts taller each time I needed to repeat myself.
