This is a thread for candidates to post their goals for what they intend to do as presidnet. Since John Ford has declined a run for president, who shoud I throw my support behind? NixonNow, StevenNick99, Engle, or John4Bush? Should I myself run? No, Democrats would love that.

NixonNow or StevenNick, but StevenNick would probably be of best service as AFRNC chair.

I guess I have a lot of goals for the forum.  Some are probably pretty far fetched.  Some are probably going to be unpopular.  But here goes.

First of all, I think we could have a much more interesting way of electing our president on the forum.  I find the idea of morphing to a parliamentary system attractive.  The president could be elected by the senate.  Small parties within the senate could form coalitions and majorities and come together to elect the president and pass legislation.  Another exciting idea is to move to an electoral college system, much like our own.  Each region and/or district would be given a point value.  Whoever won a majority of the electoral votes would win the presidency.

I'd also like to change our party structure on the forum.  It seems to me that many of the elections have become too partisan.  Elections have been decided on registration and turnout rather than the quality of the candidate.  In fact, the quality of the candidate is impossible to guage because candidates very rarely address issues.  So I guess I'd like to see a forum dominated by coalitions of small parties.  Candidates would engage in intelligent (or just mostly intelligent) debates on current issues.  I envision a senate that debates and votes on mock bills addressing real issues.  The forum could just be so much funner with a few minor tweaks.

As far as issues are concerned I'd like to take action on vouchers, health care, trade, a flat tax, and national defense issues.  I'd spend more time outlining my positions on these issues, but I think my positions on these issues will become clear after the republican debate on Wednesday.

The goals I did just outline are very general and I'm very flexible on how those would take shape.  But I think reading this will give you a sense of where I'd like to see this forum go in the next few months.  If anyone has any questions or suggestions, feel free to ask/share them with me.

Striving to Bring Fun Back to the Forum,

Senator StevenNick

Personally, I like those Fantasy Election views Grin

Maybe you should see my site! I intend to have coalitions of political parties there, too, but we don't even have a constitution Sad

I was wondering that myself.  If Verin is a girl, it could be his GF.  Or it could be somekind of band.  Or it could be his favorite food.

He explained on a different thread that Verin was a character in a book he liked.

My decision is a tossup between President StevenNick, President NixonNow, and President Engle.
