I was considering posting this one myself.

The silver lining to the entire Trump administration is that it's so corrupt and incompetent that it manages to produce a backlash to his agenda without having to actually struggle with dismantling implemented policies since there are so few to speak of. Trump and his cronies simply don't know how to create legacies or policy achievements that will last.

The more pressing long-term concern with Trump and his cadre of enablers in the party leadership and conservative media is the lasting corrosive effects his tenure will have on our democratic norms and public discourse.

Even more of a reason for him to go.

This reminds of an article I read about how Betsy DeVos was bummed to learn that she couldn’t overhaul America’s public school system because DoE doesn’t really do all that much other than act as a boogeyman in right wing fever dreams

That seems to be the story of this administration in general

You'd think that someone taking such a high-profile policy-making job like that would do a little background work to see if it is worth their time and troubles. I don't know what, if anything, she had to do to take the job (such as divesting from businesses/etc), but with the massive amounts of negative attention and possible business opportunities she might have to pass on, I'd have expected her to know exactly what she would be doing before accepting. Otherwise that is just pure stupidity.

It's like Tillerson, who resigned as CEO of ExxonMobil and probably gave up a decent amount of future earnings just to spend a year as Donald Trump's Secretary of State. A whole year of shame, embarrassment and being hobbled by incompetence.

I dearly hope this take is right. The more alarmist comments on his work have left me pretty depressed.

It's nothing new that Trumpers live in their own reality which sheldom has anything to do with actual facts.

What are we going to do when the next Republican president is a Trumpist, but competent and with competent followers?

That's the scary thing. And is why Ted Cruz was always scarier than Donald Trump.

Regulations take time to matriculate under the APA. He has begun the long process of rolling back many bad Obama regs, but it will take more than a year.
