Clean Energy Businessman Sean Casten won the Dem Primary last night 30-25-17 over Mazeski and Cheney. Will face a strong fundraiser in Roskam but this district and IL12 are tossups with IL12 slightly more favorable to Dems IMO with a strong candidate in Kelly. IL14 may be flippable as wave insurance.

IL-13 is a possibility too. Betsy Dirksen Londrigan has deep Springfield ties.

Is Casten a good candidate? I'm guessing his victory in the primary was a surprise considering the NYT profile of the race didn't even mention him.

Lauren Underwood is a good recruit in the 14th. I'm nearly certain that Hultgren is safe, but LU's personal story is pretty good. She's certainly a better recruit than last cycle's challenger Jim Walz, who's fairly blah and is frankly too far left for the district.

I asked the same question and the answer was yes.
He seems to have plenty of money and was pretty good at candidate forums.
