The Phil Murphy comparison is off, because at least Murphy served as an ambassador and isn't caught on tape talking to a convicted ex governor trying to sell a senate seat.

There's a difference between being rich, and trying to use wealth to gain political power (and then using said power to get more wealth)

Oh please. You can dislike Pritzker if you want but even if he was the most corrupt Governor in the history of the universe he wouldn't pocket more money than he's spending on this campaign. He's spent $55 million already!

But isn't there some pretty dodgy links between Pritzker's property's in Chicago, and the law firm that Madigan owns, which specializes in property taxes?

There's a lot going on with Pritzker's taxes. His tax controversy/hyprocrisy on top of his comments about Black Americans are just a couple of the good reasons he gets hate.

I don't know if it's a direct connection through Mike Madigan, but JB purchased a property adjacent to his own and, after allowing it to fall into disrepair, claimed the adjacent property reduced the first property's value. Cook assessor Joe Berrios (who is in his position by virtue by MM) agreed, which reduced JB's property tax bill by $230,000. I left out some ancillary details, but that's the gist of it.

In a somewhat related piece of information, Kennedy used MM's firm to reduce his commercial property's taxes to the tune of $130,000 a number of years back.

When non-wealthy people get bored, they take up a hobby like gardening or knitting or carpentry; when wealthy people get bored, they take up politics.
