While I do not think what is going on in the West Bank is sustainable, it's really hard to come up with a solution. What should Israel do? If they unilaterally disengage, then you risk having another Gaza and I think it is pretty clear that trying to negotiate with the Palestinian Authority is pointless.

Umm,you were the one who brought up Israeli Arabs, which is something of a strawman given that most (non insane) criticism of Israel is with regards to its policies in Gaza and the West Bank (settlements, blackade, indulgence of price tag attacks etc...). Honestly, I hate to trot out the "both sides do it" line, but the constant whataboutery applied to the issue is pretty tedious tbh. And criticism of Israeli policy is justified, it is the stronger party, and as a developed, democracy and therefore needs to hold itself to higher standards, which, luckily, it still does.

Anyway, implying that Israeli Arabs don't face any discrimination is pretty ridiculous, and the fact that Arabs are often treated worse by autocratic regimes in the Arab world doesn't justify anti Arab discrimination in Israel (a minority population facing discrimination is hardly unique to Israel of course, but it is still an issue worth addressing).

The comments in the article are distressing of course, and indicative of how Israel has been turned into a scapegoat (and victim) of failures elsewhere. (having said that, my schoolboy German has all but rusted over, but I don't think the article specifies that these are recent immigrants?)

My mistake, but he did bring up the "left" as well, and suggesting that criticism of Israel is unfair while ignoring the main factors driving it is misleading

Along with anti-Semitism in general - Left, Right, Center,Christian, Muslim, non-religious - doesn't matter. I think you and I can both agree that anti-Semitism is - still - alarmingly (and increasingly?) prevalent among many "goy" of different backgrounds. And I say that as someone who isn't Jewish.

Also re: the Israel Arabs facing discrimination thing: from what I've read and heard that has just as much - if not more - of an ethnic or arguably, even racial basis than a religious one.

ie. there is a significant and obviously quite controversial debate within Israel about how Ashkhenazi Jews dominate the country at the expense of many other Israelis - Sephardic and Mizrahi Jews included in addition to Arab-Israeli Christians and Muslims. I'm no expert on this ofc.
