The +1 ID edge for Republicans among white millennials is notable, Dems really struggled with Rust Belt young voters in 2016. Not all good news for Ds.

I guess I'm part of that 19%

I'm a Republican and I voted for McMullin last year because alt-right aren't Republicans.

Indy millennial but have voted Dem in recent elections due to the infiltration of the far right and Gilded Age economics into the GOP. If I was Paul Ryan, I would be mortified by this but he and other GOP leaders know millenials lean left but don't care. New New Deal coalition by the 2030s and after.

+1 among whites is actually horrible for the GOP since the country's not getting any whiter and this is the only Republican racial group.

But Democrats have literally nowhere to gain with non-whites.

Until the end of time there will always be a solid 15% of non-whites who vote Republican.

How exactly should that worry Democrats? If whites voted +1 R, then Democrats would win nationally by double digits.

I swear I'm losing IQ points reading these hot takes on the R+1 white vote. Aren't whites like R+10 by ID on average?

Yeah. pretty much. Did Obama ever win the White Millenial vote? No Republican is winning the White Millenial Educated vote anytime soon. My guess is that a huge portion of White Millenial Republicans are alt-right and southerners.

I might be a retard but it looks to me as if 39% of blacks, 42% of Asians and 44% of hispanics don't affiliate with either party in this poll of Millennials. All those "independents" are probably overwhelmingly Democratic-leaning and I'd bet most of those "independents" would never vote for a Republican. At least a Republican in this current white grievance party. So that 34% overall of self-described Democrats is artificially low.

It's like most of the scarlet/green/dark green avatars on Atlas who lopsidedly favor Democrats and would once in a blue moon vote for a single R, if ever. They rail against the Democratic Party in a vague sense, but would never favor R's over them aside from jfern

I would vote R again if they truly moderated, quit with the bashing and religious stuff, and put out realist plans other than cut cut cut and throw more money on defense. I am fiscally conservative and anti-illegal immigration, anti-PC SJW nonsense but the current GOP has dug in on inept policy stances and will not come to it's senses. The only reasonable one in recent years was Jon Huntsman in 12 and Rand (foreign policy not fiscal) in 16. I would have voted for either one but they can't gain traction due to the clown car turnout in GOP primaries.

Exactly.

And by the way, if these numbers hold up with the next 10 years of newly eligible voters (not entirely sure they will) they'll have to at some point. Public opinion has shifted over the last 150 years, and the parties have kept up by shifting with it.
