There's a lot of it being exposed.

I see some factors promoting sexual harassment:

1. the sexual revolution of the 1960s, which colors attitudes in people born before about 1960

2. inordinate contrasts between power (economic included) and lack thereof

3. superficiality of religious beliefs if one has them

4. a culture that promotes 'sexiness' in public life and mass culture

5. 'Star systems' in which stars are protected and  others are expendable

6. the long held secrecy about any sexual harassment.

I have seen little exposure of such incidents in academia, commerce, or non-profits (other than public TV and radio).

I mean he's an ugly ass turd anyway, as Susan Collins (D-ME) put it. People should've seen this was going to happen once he got an ego high upon being elected to Congress.

Honestly, even looking at him makes me feel violated.

Also, how ironic that this was his last tweet:

(to be fair, he seems to wish every GOP Congressman happy birthday on Twitter)

I agree with most of this.

The "taxpayer funded" settlement is basically due to the fact that the taxpayers are the employers here.  It sounds repulsive, but a person who becomes a victim of harassment from someone in government ought to have the same remedies an employee in private enterprise would have.

Oddly enough, Farenthold's step-grandmother is Frances "Sissy" Farenthold, a storied Texas liberal who was runner-up to Sen. Thomas Eagleton for the VP nomination at the 1972 Democratic National Convention.  Blake Farenthold is a disgrace, but I advocate letting the voters handle these situation.
