Sister Rosetta Tharpe was a gospel singer from the 40's and 50's, playing churches and nightclubs alike with her guitar and songs. She severed as a major influence to each of the early Rock and Rollers, and is widely regarded as a major snub for the Hall.
Why she was nominated as an artist I don't really get; probably so they can give her a backdoor induction as an Early Influence like Freddie King. It's more justified with her, as she clearly predates Rock and Roll.
Does The Atlas go to her church, or are they heathens?
