Notice that the left wing kooks just love Hagel, whereas the conservatives despise him.

Hmm.

Hmm.
CARYHAYDEN logic: Republican Senator Hagel must suck since the left wing kooks love him.

Do we really need to have any more arguments over whether you're a Democrat. If you don't like a Republican just because "left wing kooks like him", you're no Democrat.

In early 2004 or maybe 2003, there was a news story about Karl Rove seeing some Dean supporters.  He went out and joined them and started chanting "We want Dean!  We want Dean!".

Fourth of July parade I believe, Rove the most gifted campaigner of his generation, I would however like to see a Democratic Presidential campaign run by Carville face off against a Republican campaign run by Rove, and when I say "run" I don't mean like in 2004 when Carville "helped out" and Mary Beth Cahill ran the show.

Cahill did an excellent job in the primaries and was very good at coordinating and rebranding Kerry’s “cash rich, support poor” campaign back from the brink it found its self teetering on in late 2003 and even early 2004.

It was not however her job to continue at the helm into the presidential race proper IMHO she should have been moved from her central role after Super Tuesday. At the same time this might have removed Kerry from the problem of having four or five egotistical campaign strategists offering conflicting advice with no clear chain of command. However without Cahill the most likely campaign supremo to emerge would be Bob Shrum and I wonder weather he’d have been any better than Cahill.

Hagel is right, he can't beat McCain.  He can't beat any other Republican  with any kind of name recognition for the nomination either.  As an independent, he may get the votes of maybe 1 or 2% of the population.  If he runs as an indy, he'll secure his place in obscurity.
