Here's an interesting question I've often wondered but never asked. Maybe there's already a thread on it but I've never seen it, so here goes.

How did you first find this forum? It's not that well known or anything. So how did you first find talkelections.org? Was it recommended? Did you search up "political forums to join?"
Personally, I found it when out of sheer curiousity, I did a Google Search for Dole-Gore counties and the first link was for a Talk Elections thread on the subject. I joined about a week later. So how about you?

I think I googled political forums and I really loved the party/state avatars, so I joined primarily for that.

I think I stumbled upon it while making some search about historical elections, but I don't remember exactly what or why. I think I lurked for somewhat less than a month before officially registering an account.

Google in 2016.

I wanted to get an idea about Trump's chances of winning the Presidential election.

Atlas said with 98% certainty that Hillary Clinton had it in the bag. It was funny to watch the forums for 3 months after the elections.

I searched on Google "What if Lyndon Johnson ran in 1968?" and found a thread in the what-if board. Some time back in 2013.

I was active on a yahoo group in 2003 related to Lichtman's 13 Keys to the White House when someone mentioned the data onthe Atlas. I watched the Forum for a few weeks and joined in Feb 2004. I helped Dave fill in a few missing IL counties that decade. Coincidentally I was following returns on FiveThirtyEight last night and saw one of their team post a mark of VA benchmarks and it cited Dave's Atlas.

I was looking for info on some European election and found the international boards. I don't think I even bothered looking at the rest of the forum for a few weeks; the international boards were just too good.

Stumbled on it by accident when looking through election maps, started posting almost entirely on map-related.

I have always loved elections and the non-forum portion of Atlas is one of the best resources out there. Then I noticed there was a forum, lurked occasionally for a few years, then finally made an account about a year ago.

I was aware of the main Atlas site as a source of past results since about 2004, but never looked at the forum until I saw a reference to a thread (from a Google search IIRC) during the 2008 campaign.  Lurked as a guest for a little while and then registered just after the 2008 election.
