How big of a problem is Income inequality? Very Big & Moderately Big/ Small / Not a problem

Overall - 82 / 10 / 5
Dem/Lean Dem - 93 / 3 / 3
GOP/Lean GOP - 69 / 18 / 10

Whites - 80/ 12 / 5
Blacks - 91 / 5 / 3
Hispanic - 84 / 8 / 7

Postgrad - 88 / 7 / 4
College Grad - 80 / 12 / 6
HS or Less - 81/ 11 / 5

75K+ Income - 80 / 12 / 7
30-75K Income - 83 / 10 / 5
Less than 50K - 86 / 7 / 5

Businesses make too much profit -

Overall - 59%
Dems - 73%
GOP - 43%

Taxes on big businesses should be? Raised / Kept the same / Lowered?

All - 52 / 21 / 24
Dems - 69 / 19 / 11
GOP - 32 / 23 / 41

Taxes on people with 250K+ income should be ? Raised / Kept the same / Lowered?

All - 43 / 29 / 24
Dems - 57 / 26 / 14
GOP - 26 / 33 / 36

Economic system favors? Powerful interests unfairly / Is Fair?

All - 65 / 32
GOP - 46 / 50
Dem - 82 / 17

Looks like GOP voters are split about taxes while overwhelmingly Dems favor increase in taxes & think the economic system is rigged & hard work is not enough. Income inequality is a massive issue for everyone & especially for Democratic voters & even more among people of color & highly educated folks.

How does a bland centrist or a Ryan type Republican win in such an environment? 2020 will also set the stage for economically left populist anti-establishment campaigns if this mood persists.

I'm absolutely shocked that this is the case.

The GOP doesn't even have a majority of its own voters in support of tax cuts. Sad!

Very clearly #intouch with the voters and the public. Smiley

The big donors want the tax cuts, and that's who is important to the party leaders.

This is why Trump won.

The GOP doesn't even have a coherent concise economic agenda which the base supports. It is social conservatism & abortion, immigration, guns, hatred for affirmative action & opposition to liberalism holding them together. There is  a significant section of economically liberal or moderate types who just hate Democrats & their politics.

The GOP can be a good opposition for liberals & can be the anti-Democratic party & that is about it but have no common economic agenda to implement. The Dems on the other hand are largely united with a left wing progressive economic vision.

This is why Trump won.

Then proceeded to pursue and/or implement the very same policies that the donor class wanted. Trump's populism was a scam, a show, and millions of people were sold a sack of lies, which really should've been obvious; all right-wing populists are scam artists serving the upper class. Any opposition from the elite to Trump was based solely on hedging of bets, PR, and/or because his policies wouldn't benefit them in particular; they may be dismayed by his public acts of vulgarity and boorishness, and he may not be as well-liked as Rubio or even Pence, but he's only needed to sign his name on Congressional GOP legislation and appoint whomever they want to important positions.
