He does better in the popular vote but worse in the electoral college (if he wins I suspect he holds all of his 2016 states except for Michigan and doesn't win any new ones), so I suppose closer.

it almost definitely has to be bigger. donald’s margin of victory last year was incredibly narrow and convenient, if he’s going to hold the states he won, his popularity has to rebound considerably

He won with only a 36 percent approval rating on Election Day.

Against Hillary Clinton. It should be obvious that he won't be getting that luxury again.

Her rating was much higher than 36%. And you're kidding yourself if you think ANY Democratic nominee won't be successfully demonized.
