Both Florida senators are opposing this nomination, saying that a politician shouldn't lead the space program.

There is precedent for NASA Administrators coming from other parts of government. Many NASA Administrators who came from within NASA were not scientists, as well. After all, the NASA Administrator is an executive, not a researcher. At least Bridenstine has long demonstrated an interest in and respect for NASA's mission, which is a lot more than you could say about, say, Scott Pruitt.

Yeah I was surprised to learn how much interest Bridenstine has in the space program. Definitely not comparable to Pruitt

Bridenstine could do a good job in this role. We'll see.
The 'no politician should do the job' talking point is bunk though.

Bridenstine has been a major NASA advocate, for which I consider him to be an above average Representative. I just wish he had more funding.

Yeah. This isn't a bad nomination; Bridenstine doesn't want to slash and burn NASA.
