Dating back to Watergate, the average length of a special prosecutor/counsel investigation has been 904 days.  The longest was the Clinton/Whitewater investigation at 2,978 days.  This led to the Lewinsky scandal and Clinton's impeachment.  The next longest was the Iran-Contra investigation at  2,420 days.  Source

The scary thing is this might actually pass the House.

Even if it did pass the house (highly doubt) it would be destroyed in the Senate.

That's the sum of it, right there. I still can't quite believe I'm saying this about a Senator who I loathed for most of my politically-aware life, but we can at least count on McCain to be the killing vote.

My sympathies. I'm glad his district only covers southern St. Johns County, otherwise, he'd be my rep as well *gags*. But thankfully even if this passes the House it'd be DOA in the Senate.

Okay, then he'd join the Democrats and you'd be one seat closer to losing the Senate. Thanks!

So, what, the Democrats will just become the catch-all party for everyone who isn't completely batsh** insane? John McCain is hardly someone I think you'd want in the party in anyway.

I'd be fine with him as an independent who caucuses with us, but I'd prefer not to have our majority hinge on him for obvious reasons.  I mean, it'd be a free Senate seat.  We're a political party not a crucible.  And I say this as someone who has never been a fan of McCain (to say the least).  Y'all should direct this energy primarying folks like Cueller, Lipinski, and the IDC as well as wresting control of the major city and county organizations away from corrupt machine types.

I mean, for the time being, until we can retake the Senate on our own terms (likely in 2020). Then McCain can do whatever he wants. He's bound to retire, resign, or well, die within the next year or so anyway. It's not like we'd have him in the Dem Caucus for 40 years or something.

That time when a Ruskie Putin lover believes he can authentically label Americans as traitors to their country.
