McConnell delays start of recess into August

http://www.cnn.com/2017/07/11/politics/mitch-mcconnell-delays-august-recess/index.html

It will start the third week of August instead of the first week, and still end on September 5.

They don't want the Senators to hold town halls or talk with their constituents.   I doubt this is  him thinking they'll pass it in that timespan.

WHEN YOU USE ALL CAPS, THERE IS THE EXPECTATION OF IMPORTANT OR UNEXPECTED NEWS. WHERE IS THE NEWS? THERE OUGHT TO NEWS!

Another Senate norm demolished (/s).

Probably done to ensure the debt ceiling gets raised in reality but to communicate to the base that they're trying really, really hard to do healthcare.

This is certainly an unexpected decision.

It's a futile decision, but hardly unexpected. There already was considerable talk of the recess being cancelled because the Republican plan to gut Medicaid is proving too toxic for moderates to stomach and doesn't go for the outright repeal  that the heartless reactionaries of the Republican crazy fringe want.

I still don't think that enacting any form of TrumpDeath Insurance is going to happen.
The extension must be to handle other budgetary matters, including the debt ceiling.

They need to do the job that they were elected by voters to do. They can spend the rest of August at home as usual during their traditional August recess.

Do your job. Represent the people that elected you, or you can be removed in November 2018 or November 2020.

We should give about 90 of our Senators an infinite recess.

Cory Booker is the only senator that should be allowed to stay. We should also add Cuomo and Lieberman.

I obviously don't actually believe this

Collins and Paul said they will definitely vote against the new health care bill. One more Republican to vote against it, and this terrible legislation is DEAD. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LBkLB35Ixak

About this- What did Thomas Jefferson say about Congress being in session?
