Ah, but EnglishPete was telling us how the real threat to free speech was college students protesting Milo or something.

Breitbart and Infowars are not the same thing. Breitbart is an ideological, but legitimate news outlet that reports real stories. Sure, they love sensationalism as much as the mainstream media, and this leads to them occasionally reporting inaccuracies, but they publish retractions when necessary, and they don't misreport facts more often than the mainstream media. They cover many things that the mainstream media don't want to cover because it doesn't fit their narrative.

And say what you will about Infowars, but they do some good things, too.

Breitbart is about as legitimate as ZeroHedge. They frequently post stories that are based on weeks old sources, which themselves are exaggerated or flat out incorrect.

Zero Hedge is a great site. I read it daily. Some garbage, some interesting takes.

https://today.yougov.com/news/2015/05/20/hate-speech/

50 percent of democrats want to ban "hate speech ". So yah the Dems have no right to be outraged by this unless they also call out their party on this .

I'm willing to call out the GOP on this and Dems should be willing to call Dems out on that .

Sorry, but speech hostile to Republicans' agenda (i.e. facts) is more important than speech whose sole purpose is to make others angry.

Well, purposely inaccurate and malicious libelous material is unconstitutional.

Otherwise, it shouldn't be banned, but if it is the first, then constitutionally that material should be shut down.

Libel is a civil court issue, and is 'unconstitutional' because it is not considered protected speech.  However, libel can only be against an individual, there is no civil penalty against group libel which is what nearly all genuine fake news constitutes.

I see no problem, the media right now acts with deliberate intent of destabilizing the country in order to take out someone that is hostile to their interests, but the government must put americans', not the media's interest first.

Trump has been victim of a media coup and must, as our chief of state, act accordingly to preserve our stability against hostile institutions.

Yeah, that's a good point. Hillary probably is a giant lizard wearing a person mask.

Switch Trump to Hillary, and add after "as our Chief of State", [by any objectively democratic voting system instead of 538 arbitrary ghosts]"  and he's got it right.

After all, it wasn't in the people's interests to have a horse-race narrative for the sake of it and da' ratings, wasn't in the people's interests to feed the troll line "buh her emails" and add at the end "oh, but she'll win anyway", wasn't in the people's interests not brush all those scandals a week down the drain just because they were there so many.
