If the state legislature cannot include Mayoral control of public schools, and NYC has to reorganize into local school boards (like in pre-2002), will a serious challenger suddenly step up and primary de Blasio? Petitioning ends July 5 and the Board of Education would have to be organized July 1. So essentially 4 days to make the ballot.

Cuomo called back the State Legislature today to vote on mayoral control. We'll see what happens.

I don't see any major Democratic challenger to run against De Blasio. Scott Stringer and Christine Quinn and Hillary Clinton had until February or March to declare.
