should be self-explanatory. provides replacement funding to n.g.o.s that are targeted by the mexico city policy, compensating for the damage done by president dfw's executive order.

The Mexico City Policy is a particularly odious piece of the conservative machinery of government at work and I fully support our Commonwealth showing its clear and determined support for international aid and support for developing countries, and women in particular, around the world.

A question to the sponsor : about how much do you estimate will be spent under the provisions of this bill on an annual basis? I'm wondering particularly whether you intend the Commonwealth to replace in full the funding withdrawn by the federal government, or whether the total sum of aid to these organizations would be at the discretion of the sitting House of Commons.

Bump. Barring an answer to my previous question, I am afraid I'd have to oppose this; Section 1 is much too vague for me to support it in its present form.

atlasia spends $600m/y on global family planning assistance, so it'd be some fraction of that. i think this is a burden the region can shoulder in full.

My thanks to the sponsor. $600 million is no small sum, but it is well within our means to provide it (the surplus for the Fiscal Year of 2016 was $522 billion). Accordingly, I propose the following amendment:

the intention is for this to also be effective at the same time as the mexico city policy, to lessen the cost (and to disincentivise anti-choice federal governments from enacting it in the first place)

the rest of your amendment is friendly ofc

Apologies - I temporarily confused the definition of a CPC. Amendment amended.

The Amendment is agreed to.

Under Standing Order III (3), I am going to now put the question. Members have twenty-four hours to object.

I find it fascinating that Fremont is establishing precedents for regions to outright ignore federal laws.

There being no objection, the question is agreed to.

The question is now that the bill be agreed to. As many as are of that opinion, say Aye; those opposed, No. Division!

i don't see your point. if the federal government were to cut any other vital service, the regions would be entitled and even obligated to replace it, no?
