Isn't this pretty much his whole presidency so far?

41% Approve/No Opinion is a lot better than I expected actually, given the media and Atlas freakout of "We're going to die now!!!", "We're going against the world!!!!", and "even Mitt Romney likes the deal!!!".

Polls on the issue which were conducted before pulling out of Paris had pointed in the same direction. However, Donald Trump only believes polls which happen to underline his opinions and views.

I think Trump also believes that he needs his base and only his base (the people who love him!) to get re-relected in 2020, and that his base makes up around 60% of the electorate or so.

Taking a closer look at the numbers it seems like the Republican base supports pulling out of Paris mainly because they think that it helps the economy.

With regards to the question whether Trump's decision will help U.S. leadership in the world, the answers among "Republican leaners" were as follows:
Help 40%
Hurt 25%
Makes no difference 31%
No opinion 4%

With regards to the question whether Trump's decision will help international efforts to address climate change, the answers among "Republican leaners" were as follows:
Help 19%
Hurt 25%
Makes no difference 52%
No opinion 5%

Trump didn't even do it to appease his base. He did it to piss off those libruls. Wait, maybe those two things are related...

Republicans are the most unrepresentative party in the western world, and yet somehow the public keeps giving them chances.
