Assuming that President Donald Trump is impeached before the 2020 election, who would Mike Pence select as his Vice-President?

Yeah I could see him just say %^&* it and pick Cruz or a Cruz like guy that he likes best. I don't see why he would bend over backwards to not pick a tea partier.

Nikki Haley, Susanna Martinez, Brian Sandoval, Condoleeza Rice, Marco Rubio, John Kasich, Cory Gardner, Tim Scott, and Jared Kushner are the most likely, probably in that order from most to least likely.

Pence is caught up in this too, even if he's trying to make the appearance he isn't. His story on Flynn doesn't add up. Neither did his story today, later contradicted by both Kellyanne Conways and Sarah Huckabee Sanders.

There's a negative 200% chance Trump gets impeached. Even if he was found colluding with Russia, I'm sure at least 34 GOP Senators would still call it "sour grapes."

Which sounds like a great way to get your party to be absolutely destroyed in 2018 and 2020.

John Thune would be possible, I suppose.

I would say Kristi Noem, who will probably be South Dakota Governor by then, but I'm not sure if Pence would want to spend that much time with a woman who is not his wife.  lol

I'm torn between them being awful people and catapulted to national forefront, which dispappoints me, and our state finally get rid of them, which gladdens me.

Should something unfortunate happen to President Trump like impeachment...I would probably go with Cory Gardner or Nikki Haley here.

It depends on how the 2018 elections go.

If Democrats re-take the House, Pence might have to choose someone acceptable to Democrats. Even if they don't, he might want to choose someone broadly acceptable to Congress.

I could see Rob Portman, John Thune, or Shelly Moore Capito.

Almost certainly Nikki Haley. And in 2020, after Atlas gets over the dumb idea that Trump will be impeached in his first term and we start asking who Pence will pick in 2024 if he's the nominee, the answer will still be Nikki Haley.

The consensus on Nikki Haley is probably right. She's a Governor with foreign policy experience, and served in the Trump administration without being tainted by it. It also helps that she's a minority woman.

Other potential picks...
Mitt Romney- Qualified known quantity. Not seen as too much of a supporter of Trump.
Scott Walker- Swing state Governor who can be an advocate for the rust belt voters Trump needs.
Rob Portman- Swing state Senator with the experience to help govern.
Bob Corker- Qualified Senator who can keep Southern conservatives happy.

It would require complex calculations in terms of appeasing Trump voters while not requiring someone tainted closely associated with a guy who got impeached. It would have to be someone who can withstand the confirmation process, but who will serve as Vice President prior to the election.

I would hope Nikki Haley, but I hope that it being looked as pandering by a more conservative Republican by selecting a woman minority does not happen.  This has prevented so many qualified nominees in the past from both sides, and I hope it doesn't happen again.  She's becoming more qualified every day, and I hope she is POTUS one day. I disagree with her on foreign policy, but everything else is OK.
