Two sociopaths willing to wreck the world for their antiquated ideological goals. What say you?

Does this apply to your view of "Watchmen" in general, or simply compared to Assange? (serious)

It's more that he's one of my favorite supervillains.

(Is his characterization different in the comic? I'm genuinely curious, because all I've heard about it makes me think that the only thing the movie changed was the ending - and even then not in a way that really affects its meaning.)

The change in the ending was as much a childhood killer as a popular culture event could be (as a young reader, I had impatiently skipped forward in the book, caught a glimpse of what was to come, and eagerly awaited finding out how; losing that source of wonder was crushing). That said, I'd agree that Veidt is great as a villain (with the caveat that Rorschach is one of my favorite masked heroes). The book is definitely worth reading and could probably be easily located in a library.

I definitely want to read it one day. I just hope I can still share my opinions on the story and characters before I do so. Tongue

Speaking of which, Rorschach is the worst.

My opinion of Rorschach isn't based in embracing his overall ontology, so I am unprepared to debate you on that (though I perhaps agreed with him more in that regard when I first read the book). Rather, I find his social commentary intuitively enjoyable. Though I've come to perhaps appreciate more of Veidt's "end justifies the mean" worldview recently (and his whole aesthetic centered around glorifying historical authoritarian rule is obviously appealing), I still can't shake my impression of him formed from my first and second readings of the book.
