The Social Darwinist Speaker who paid for college with benefits obtained from a liberal government entitlement program, accomplished his "dream" last year: to lower taxes on the very rich.  It was the most fiscally irresponsible thing Congress could have done.  His legacy will be a trillion dollar deficit, massive debt to be paid off after he's long gone, and the redistribution of wealth into the hands that already have most of it all.

From his perspective as well as his people's, I'm sure its basically an A since he got his rich people's tax hike. As far as his stated life's mission for lowering the debt, as well as what damage he's done to the country, definitely an LOL.

He did what he was put there to do with the tax law. From his perspective, an A. For the rest of us, F.

Paul "Neville Chamberlain" Ryan did a great service to his masters while farting Ayn Rand talking points out of his ass in our general direction.  It's so awful that it is laughable.  lol

The only reason he isn't the worst speaker of this century is because Hastert was literally a child molester.

No. It was always bigger than a measly tax cut. The entire goal of his political career has been to move the Overton Window enough to the right to make cutting and eventually eliminating medicare and social security politically feasible, and he's clearly failed at that.

I'm going to try to be objective here and not grade on whether or not I agree with his policies. He was able to shepard through a major tax overhaul bill, which, agree or disagree with the end result, was technically effective speakership work. However, he wasn't able to pass any other significant legislation and had a major goof with ACA repeal.

Simple effectiveness grade: C-. Certainly more effective than Boehner but that isn't a high bar to clear.

Policy standpoint: D, maybe D-(poor, though infinitely preferable to McConnell)

He more or less kept a messy Republican caucus together in the House...so that's worth something.

I'll give him a C-, which is far better than the D I would be giving McConnell at this point.
