Mike Pence. He'll be viewed favorably by Trump voters by means of being his VP, and Pence could also garner support from tea party conservative types, and I don't think the establishment would be opposed to him either. I think the nomination is Pence's if he wants it (which I'm almost certain he does)

by 2024 I think TX, AZ, GA, FL will likely lean Dem (which will overwhelm the Rust Belt likely leaning Rep).   So I think 2024 will be a tough year for Repub presidential nom... if current trends continue.

Almost certainly Mike Pence. Quote me on this in 2024 when the Bannon/Bloomberg power ticket is giving their acceptance speeches at the RNC.

One of the Trump children, or Trump himself wouldn't suprise me.

As of now, I guess it will be Pence. If the Trumpster gets a second term, the sitting vice president is always in a good position for the nod. Even if Trump loses in 2020, he still has a decent chance to clinch the nomination four years later. I still regard it as somewhat possible that Pence will succeed to the presidency after an impeachment and then being unopposed for the 2020 nomination.

I doubt that Pence would have any chance in 2024 if Trump loses in 2020.

In modern history, almost every running mate or incumbent vice-president of a losing presidential candidate or incumbent president failed miserably to get the nomination or just didn't run.

After George H. W. Bush lost in 1992, Dan Quayle ran in 2000 but dropped out of the race before the beginning of the primaries mostly due to his poor standing in the polls and to his unpopularity.

After Bob Dole's loss in 1996, Jack Kemp was mentionned as a possible 2000 candidate but did not run.

After Al Gore lost in 2000, Joe Lieberman did not win any state during the 2004 Democratic primaries and dropped out.

After John Kerry lost in 2004, John Edwards made a worse performance during the 2008 primaries than in 2004 and dropped out.

If Trump loses in 2020 it will be partly due to his unpopularity and the reason why Dick Cheney did not run in 2008 is mostly because of the Bush Administration's unpopularity.

Well Nikki Haley is obviously being groomed for it.  That's the only explanation for her UN post. Reince Pushed it to give her foreign policy experience.  She'll either be the next nominee, or Pence's VP.

Ehh, that's a bit of a stretch.  Getting Haley out of Columbia and into the Trump Administration had the dual benefit of neutralizing a young, minority, charismatic, popular woman who had previously been very critical of Trump and giving a Trump supporter the keys to the governor's mansion in advance of what was shaping up to be a competitive 2018 GOP primary field.

Trump will be the re-elected in 2020; Mike Pence will win 2024.

2020: Donald Trump
2024: Mike Pence

If Mike Pence chooses not to run in 2024, I can see Ted Cruz, Marco Rubio and/or Paul Ryan being strong contenders.  I think Ivanka Trump may run at some point (possibly 2024), and actually has a strong chance at winning the nomination (and presidency).

I also think John Kasich will run in 2024 (probably 2020 as well), and will attempt to stretch out his campaign as long as he did this time, with the same result.

While I don't think either one of them would likely be the nominee, I do think that Donald Trump Jr. (who is not listed as an option in this poll) would be a more likely possibility than his brother Eric (who is listed as an option).

I think the OP did an excellent job rounding out the likely 2024 contenders.  Everybody that I think has a fighting chance (or likely to run) is listed.

Considering we're talking about Republican primary voters, someone who thinks climate change is fake news and thinks banning Sharia law is worth an actual law. Problem is that could be anyone in the GOP these days.

Pence in 2020, who will then be the sitting and 46th President of the United States.
